Park cafe and tennis courts in search of operators as leisure facilities outsourced

A POPULAR cafe at one of Derby's busiest parks is looking for businesses and groups to operate the site, with a chance to become the beating heart of the suburb.

Derby City Council is inviting expressions of interest from experienced and imaginative operators to manage the catering and sports court facilities at the popular Alvaston Park.

The opportunity includes operating the Waterside Cafe, the adjoining pavilion facilities, and the PlayZone and tennis courts.

Last year, the council's cabinet approved plans to outsource the management of its leisure facilities, and the Alvaston Park catering provision is part of this process.

The move is intended to provide financial savings for the council while maintaining a “high level of service for customers,” the council has said.
