Micropub set to take over salon site

A FORMER hairdressing salon could soon be transformed into a micropub after plans were given the go-ahead by Derby City Council.

The new venue is set to be situated in Watson Street, near the former The Victoria pub, which has been a multiple occupancy home since 2013.
The pub will be able to accommodate up to 41 people inside, across two floors, and will also have an outside seating area.
"In an era when many local pubs are closing, micro-pubs are thriving - 10 having opened in Derby since 2012. They provide a low-key alternative to the modern pub, reminiscent of a more traditional public ale house," the application read.
