Investors are 'lining up' to 'energise' the city

Excited council leaders hope the money will help unlock wider investment in the city - potentially worth £25 million - growing the city’s economy.

Specific details of how the cash, from the East Midlands Combined Authority, will be spent have not yet been revealed but a council report says the city centre project will “revitalise historic buildings, encourage innovation, and foster local business development while delivering high-quality housing for rent and purchase”

Leading Labour councillors at Derby City Council have agreed to delegate authority to accept a total £5m cash boost for the city, with most of the money earmarked for city centre improvements.
