A FORMER Derby County player was part of a group attack which left a man with a “Joker-style” permanent scar to his face.

- By MARTIN NAYLOR

Nottingham Crown Court was told how Tyree Wilson, who played 79 times for the Rams under-23, -18 and -19 squads in a near five-year spell at the Rams, was part of a gang which “rushed” the victim before a co-defendant slashed the man across the face.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder, who scored 15 goals for the club, then fled from the scene with his accomplices.

Now earning £400 a game for Leicestershire side Barwell, he was told by a judge “you are going to play for free this weekend” after ordering him to pay towards the costs of the case.

Mark Knowles, mitigating, said: “He has always maintained that he had no knowledge of the knife.

“He plays semiprofessional football and at the stage he was at then no-one would give him a fulltime contract.

“He was certainly playing locally and then had a contract at Kettering Town. They could not offer him a permanent contract until the outcome of this case.

“He took a better contract in Leicestershire with a club called Barwell on a pay-as-you-play contract and he’s played the last two games.

“If this is custody, his contract and football career will be over.
