Dog owners to face unlimited fines if pets worry sheep, alpacas or llamas

DOG walkers will face an unlimited fine if their pet worries livestock, including llamas, alpacas and sheep.

Peers and MPs have both agreed to lift a £1,000 cap on fines, which English and Welsh courts can impose in dog attack cases.

They have also agreed to give camelids - including llamas and alpacas - the same protections that goats, sheep, cattle and poultry have, as part of the Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Bill.

Derbyshire has seen a number of recent cases where livestock have been attacked or killed by dogs.
