FLYTIPPING AND BINS LEFT OUT BLAMED FOR MAKING AREA THE LOOK LIKE A 'SLUM'

Claims estate is 'filthy' and a haven for rodents

A MEETING is to be held over serious concerns that a Derby estate is "filthy" and is being plagued by rodents because bins are left out constantly.

Issues were raised a few weeks ago about the New Zealand area of Derby off Ashbourne Road, with its appearance in some parts likened to a “slum”

Howe Street resident Sally Bareham said fly-tipping on some of the streets in the area was making her feel depressed and claimed she was getting no response from Derby City Council when reporting her concerns.

Her words came at the same time a petition was set up and called for a planned house of multiple occupation (HMO) to be refused. Last week, the planning application was turned down.
