Steenhuisen: No landgrabs debated

JOHN Steenhuisen says issues surrouding white Afrikaner farmers never came up in his first big meeting on his visit to America.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) leader and South Africa’s Agri-culture Minister, Steenhuisen, President Cyril Ramaphosa and other delegates are in the US for negotiations on strenghtening the two countries business ties.

On Tuesday, Steenhuisen met with US Trade Representative Ambassador Jamieson.

Asked if the issue of landgrabs and farm murders came up in his discussions with Greer, Steenhuisen said: “No, it didn’t come up at all,” stating the emphasis remained on trade and practical cooperation.
