No fears of meningitis outbreak

THE Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness (WCDHW) has moved swiftly to soothe fears of a possible outbreak of a dangerous strain of meningitis.

Mense were especially bekommerd about the impact this strain, meningococcal meningitis, could have on their babas at early childhood development centres, such as creches.

It leads to the inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. Vaccination is crucial.

Fear was especially at its hoogste after the bright and lively Izaiah Konstant (4) died after a short illness last month in the small coastal town of Paternoster. It is suspected that the woelwater klonkie contracted meningitis.
