SALVER HAS A SILVER BULLET

THREE Grade Ones take centre stage at Kempton this afternoon, which includes the Ladbrokes Kauto Star Novices' Chase, and while Willie Mullins looks to hold strong claims with Kitzbuhel, I think SALVER (1.20) is the one to side with.

He won a Grade Two plus finished third in the JCB Triumph Hurdle last season in testing conditions, so was labelled as a soft-ground specialist, but his recent efforts show he was running over the wrong trip, and he is versatile ground-wise.

The five-year-old was narrowly denied over 2m5f at Sandown on his final start last season. He was held up there and, despite clocking the fastest penultimate furlong, he was given too much to do.
