Dyche must restore solid defensive foundations and revive Gibbs-White

SEAN DYCHE is poised to become Nottingham Forest's third head coach of the season after Ange Postecoglou was given the boot after only 39 days in charge.

If all goes to plan, Dyche's first match in charge will be Thursday's Europa League clash at home to Porto. SARAH CLAPSON takes a look at what will be on the incoming boss’ to-do list.

TIGHTEN UP THE DEFENCE

The key to Forest's success last term was their rock-solid back line. Matz Sels (below) lifted the Golden Glove award after keeping 13 clean sheets while Nikola Milenkovic and Murillo proved a formidable centre-back pairing. Added to that, Ola Aina and Neco Williams were consistently good at fullback.

The fact you have to go back to April 1 for Forest's last clean sheet shows how some of their struggles predate Postecoglou’s reign.

Injuries limited the Aussies selection choices, but Forest still shipped a whopping 18 goals in his eight games in charge.

It's one of the reasons why Dyche is viewed as a good fit - Forest need a steadying hand and to get back to basics.
