Sir Jim job cull boosts coffers but debt bulges to shocking £1.3bn

SIR JIM RATCLIFFE’S brutal cost-cutting has bolstered the balance sheet at Manchester United - but the club have still seen their debts spiral to a staggering £1.3bn.

Co-owner Ratcliffe’s ruthless axing of 450 jobs has seen the club make a £32.6m operating profit for the six months to December 31 2025, which is in stark contrast to a £3.9m loss in the same period the previous year. But the rise comes amid the backdrop of the club’s debt now approaching £1.3bn.
