Gary's planning to lift Broncos to new level

GARY HETHERINGTON doesn't have a “secret stash of cash” to make London Broncos work - but reckons he can quickly turn them into a Super League force.

The Leeds Rhinos chief executive, who departs his Headingley role at the end of the season after nearly 30 years in charge, yesterday presented his blueprint for transforming the sport in the capital.

Hetherington, who joins the board of the Championship club, outlined a five-year plan as part of a new vision for rugby league in London and the South East.

Speaking at the Australian Embassy, he discussed forming a new ownership group, launching a new brand for the 2026 season - when Broncos hope to have enough IMG points to get back in Super League - and committed to reinstating the London player academy.
