JAY BACKS WAKEFIELD IN TOP-SIX SCRAMBLE

JAY PITTS reckons Wakefield have proved they have the character to clinch a playoff place in their first year back in Super League.

Trinity sit sixth, crucially holding the last spot, as they head into the last seven rounds of the campaign.

‘They have been in a fight with Hull for the last few weeks to get that all-important position, although eighth-placed Warrington are also in the mix.

St Helens, just above Wakefield, could also be dragged back into the fight if they don’t see off Castleford.

But veteran loose-forward Pitts believes Thursday's dramatic 15-14 win over high-flying Leeds illustrated their potential.
