TWO Liverpool boxers are hoping to make it big on the world stage by starring on their doorstep.

Odel Kamara and Callum Makin want to become the latest boxing heroes from a city with a storied history in the sport.

The inaugural World Championships, under World Boxing, take place at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool and get underway on Thursday.

GB Boxing has a team with plenty of new faces and Kamara and Makin are two of them looking to show they can go all the way to LA in 2028 for the Olympics.

“It’s a chance to prove what I can do, not just as an amateur but for our city,” said light-middleweight Kamara, whose career started as a kick boxer.
