MEG JONES is aiming to bring home the World Cup for the parents who tragically will not be able to see her big moment at Twickenham.

The centre's mother and father, Paula and Simon, died within a few months of each other last year but Jones has been doing them proud by being England's player of the tournament so far.

She has one more hurdle to get over today to complete her mission beat Canada in the final and claim a first global title for the Red Roses since 2014.

Born in Cardiff, but eligible for England through her mum, Jones is one of three stars shortlisted for Women's World Player of the Year and a win at HQ could seal the deal.

And Jones, 28, revealed her ambitions to lift the trophy have been fired by the memories of her parents, who introduced her to the game.

She said: "It's been huge fuel for me. It's difficult but I hate being the victim, I was never brought up that way and my mum and dad would hate that.
