I'M lucky to have a large enough area of garden that I can leave one little bit almost completely feral to just let nature take its course.

It's now home to some of the many microbeasts and friends who make the wild world what it is.

I popped down to check on the area and the little pond I had dug down there and sadly found that one of the very few resident newts of the wild pool is no longer with us.

It's certainly not unusual at this time of year to find dead amphibians; hibernation can take a lot out of you and when you wake up just to get your rocks off, the exhaustion can be enough to finish you off!

So in memory of my ex-newt, let's have a little chat about them...
