LANDO: TRYING TO BE HERO HAS COST ME

- by DANIEL MOXON

LANDO NORRIS admitted “trying to be a hero” has cost him in his Formula One title chase.

The Brit is nine points behind teammate Oscar Piastri as the sport returns in Holland following a four-week summer break.

But he knows he could have been in the driving seat but for costly mistakes in China and Canada.

“Could I have, at times, made maybe better decisions? I think so,” Norris said in Zandvoort.

“The main one was China sprint qualifying; I think my lap was good enough for pole until the final hairpin where I locked up.

“If I'd had that thought probably just before braking, ‘It’s a long season, don’t try to be a hero; then I would have finished it. I lost eight points there.”
