TOUGH AS TEAK MOODY'S GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT IS STILL TO COME
-
HE was known as ‘Mad Dog’ due to his unflinching and relentless attitude on the rugby pitch.
And now Lewis Moody will need the same approach off it, as he prepares to tackle the greatest challenge of his life.
Because the former England captain is now faced with a set of circumstances no human being ever should be.
Moody has been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.
Three words which now strike three more, in the shape of dread, panic and fear, into those people whose fate turns out to be as cruel as it comes.
The World Cup winner (right) knows what awaits him down the line.
And he admits he cannot face the full implications of the muscle-wasting condition that killed fellow rugby players Rob Burrow and Doddie Weir. Which is totally understandable.
