THE Defence Secretary wants to buy combat aircraft capable of firing tactical nuclear weapons as he warned of a "new era of threat".

The move would mark a huge expansion of the nuclear deterrent to counter the threat from Mad Vlad's Russia.

He is in highly sensitive talks over the move, which would represent the biggest development in the UK's deterrent since the Cold War.
