TWO of the first black players to play topflight football in England have called on the Prime Minister to award Bobby Moore a posthumous knighthood - and help celebrate the 60th anniversary of England winning the World Cup.

- BY SHEKHAR BHATIA

Clyde Best and Ade Coker said the West Ham and England captain shielded them from the terrible racism they endured while playing in the Seventies.

But they also feel he should be recognised as the only England captain to lift the World Cup.

The FA is set to celebrate the milestone anniversary of England's 1966 triumph, which falls 11 days after this year's World Cup final in the USA.

And the duo want to mark the occasion with a gong for Moore, who died from bowel cancer in February 1993.
