Ruth's charge can reap rewards at Newcastle

BARLEYBROWN (7.30, nap) looks the pick of the crop at Newcastle today.

The five-year-old joined Ruth Carr's yard in the spring of last year, and it wasn't long before he began to notch up the victories, four in total during the season, including over course and today's trip of a mile.

The son of Zoustar's form had dried up since his seasonal bow in May, apart from a silver medal at Ripon on fast ground in June, but he showed signs of a return to form on his last outing at Southwell last month.
