Sky at a crossroads as Shalom deal nears end
SKY SPORTS are still planning to stay in boxing - despite their deal with Ben Shalom and Boxxer coming to an end in August.
They're also hungry to keep broadcasting the sweet science, but the landscape of the sport is changing significantly.
How they go about it is now being determined at senior level, but those within the organisation felt they could not continue with Boxxer. That was determined by numerous factors.
They wanted more high-profile events than were delivered by Boxxer, although they were pleased when names like Chris Eubank Jr were signed.
There has been speculation that links between Shalom and some of his fighters with cricket match-fixer Mazhar Majeed brought an end to the agreement.
