Captain Harry Brook admits the amount of cricket ahead of the fast bowler this winter means it must be safety first.

Archer, who recovered from a lengthy spell of serious injuries to get his Test career back on track this summer, was removed from the firing line for the opening clash with South Africa due to the weather.

And if the expected showers disrupt both the games in Manchester today and Nottingham on Sunday, it is likely to leave Archer a frustrated onlooker again.
