Axe must fall after truly 'brainless' tour

IT was meant to be a winter of batting and bowling brilliance that saw England come home with the Ashes.

But it turned into one of boozing and brawling, which reduced some big reputations to dust.

Shambolic discipline both on and off the field has underpinned one of the most humiliating Ashes series defeats in England’s history.

And it has to cost the main protagonists their jobs.

England’s tour Down Under has proved brainless from the beginning.

Those in charge had the foresight to arrange a jolly in Noosa between the second and third Tests, more than 12 months in advance.

And they still went ahead with it, despite the team being 2-0 down and staring down the barrel.
