Incredible sky show as sun storm rages

BRITAIN was treated to a dazzling display as the Northern Lights shone spectacularly right across the nation.

The rare sky show happened because of an "extreme" geomagnetic storm triggered by the sun, which threatened to disrupt satellites, power grids and the internet.

There were sightings all over the UK including in Whitley Bay on the north-east coast, Essex, Cambridgeshire and Wokingham in Berkshire.
