Idrissa rewards Moyes' faith by adding goals to his game

SEALED WITH A KISS: Idrissa Gueye joy after scoring

WHEN Idrissa Gueye signed a one-year deal in the summer, David Moyes was not just keeping a player whose work rate is any manager's dream.

He was also keeping a player who could offer continuity, a reliable link between old and new Everton, a player with a wealth of experience, an unassuming and disciplined model of efficiency.

He was not keeping a prolific scorer, although in this Everton team finding the net on the odd occasion makes you prolific.

And after making the crucial breakthrough in this win, Gueye’s now in second place in Everton's scoring charts this season.

And he probably won't score a more valuable goal this season.

This was hardly a landmark win and will not live long in the memory. But after a run of two losses and a draw and with the giddiness of the stadium move dissipating, it was badly needed.
