MATZ SELS and Ryan Yates were the penalty shootout heroes to take Nottingham Forest to a first FA Cup semi-final for 34 years.

With 132 minutes failing to separate the sides, a quarter-final that never quite ignited went down to the agonies from 12 yards.

And Belgian keeper Sels came up with huge saves from Jack Hinshelwood and Diego Gomez to pave the way for Yates to keep Forest's incredible campaign on track.

They are now homing in on a first FA Cup success since 1959, a first domestic major trophy since 1990 - and are looking good for a Champions League spot in the Premier League.

Brighton took the field knowing bitter rivals Crystal Palace had already cruised into a Wembley semi-final. And the Seagulls began as another side desperate to add a first piece of major silverware to the cabinet.
