THE Scottish Government will not be “randomly taking an axe" to the civil service as it seeks to cut staff numbers.
Finance Secretary Shona Robison said reducing the number working for the Scottish Government by 20 per cent over the next five years was “reasonable”.
Ministers aim to cut the overall size of the public sector workforce by 0.5 per cent each year for the rest of the decade.
