- BY MARK McGIVERN Chief Reporter

SCOTLAND'S biggest animal charity is asking for more public support after being flooded with unwanted Covid pets.

The Scottish SPCA - formed in 1839 - has suffered due to the cost-of-living crisis hitting donations.

It has also faced a 44 per cent rise in costs owing to a huge wave of rehoming cases after the pandemic, when many households could no longer look after pets they had bought.

To mark World Animal Day 2025 tomorrow, it has been driving home the message that animals need help with £25million required to fund work each year.
