Cvancara so grateful for chance to shine at Hoops after Turkey torture and says Celts must keep chugging along with wins

- BY RYAN MCDONALD

TOMAS THE THANKS ENGINE

TOMAS CVANCARA got off the mark on his home debut.

And the new Bhoy has told Celtic fans he's only getting started.

The Czech striker opened his account in green and white with a slick header from Kieran Tierney’s cross in Sunday's 2-0 win over Falkirk.

It was Cvancara’s first goal since October, when he netted his one and only strike during a doomed loan spell with Antalyaspor.

The towering forward has endured a profligate few years since his big-money move to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2023.

But Cvancara is confident he can relaunch his career in Glasgow - and help fire Martin O'Neill's side to title glory.

He said: "Yeah, I'm very happy. I think for Celtic, the most important thing is to keep winning and we just go for it and I'm happy just for that.

"It was a perfect cross, I also timed it very well and it was a nice goal.

"I feel good. It's just a different type of league. It’s a lot of duels, so I have adapted quite well.

"I just have to keep going and hopefully I will get more and more minutes and just help the team.

"Will it be the first of many in green and white? Hopefully."

Cvancara was prolific with Sparta Prague - plundering 24 goals across two seasons before his numbers dried up in Germany.

But the 25-year-old isn't setting himself personal targets for his time in Scotland - other than becoming a champion in May.
