The St Mirren interim is desperate to extend his senior role in Paisley, having been plunged into post after the departure of the Northern Irishman to Aberdeen in March.

McLeish says the ability of his former gaffer Robinson and the likes of Hearts boss Derek McInnes and Falkirk’s John McGlynn to excel over a long period is a source of motivation.
