SNP DID apply pressure to open hospital

QEUH completion issues swept aside, gov't official found

ANAS Sarwar has revealed "damning" evidence that shows political pressure was applied to rush the opening of Scotland's £1billion super-hospital.

The Scottish Labour leader yesterday produced a document, written by a Scottish Government official in 2020, which declared "no consideration was given to delaying the opening of the hospital despite the issues being faced".

John Swinney has repeatedly denied the SNP government leaned on NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) to ensure the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital started accepting its first patients before the 2015 general election.

A public inquiry into what went wrong at the country's largest health campus was ordered in 2020 following a spate of infection scandals which were linked to the deaths of several vulnerable patients, including 10-year-old Milly Main.
