54-year-old denies 31 offences
THE man accused of driving into fans at Liverpool's victory parade wept in court as his trial began.
Paul Doyle, 54, denies 31 offences related to an infamous incident on May 26, when a car hit crowds gathered in the city to celebrate their team’s Premier League title triumph.
Doyle is accused of dangerous driving, affray, 17 charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, nine counts of causing GBH with intent and three counts of wounding with intent.
The defendant confirmed his name as Paul Desmond Sanders Doyle and his voice quavered and he wiped his eyes as he entered pleas of not guilty.
And Doyle put his head in his hands and cried as the jury was brought into court.
The seven men and five women were sworn in ahead of the trial proper's first day today.
