Robbo reveals cash is not king in Keanu deal

STEPHEN ROBINSON has revealed Keanu Baccus rejected greater riches from St Mirren's Premiership rivals to seal a Paisley return.

Baccus left for Mansfield in May last year after two stellar seasons with Saints.

And Robbo had no hesitation swooping for the 27-year-old after learning a deal was doable earlier in the week.

The Buddies moved sharpish to beat off competition and secure the Aussie ace on a two-year contract.

Robinson said: "There were three other clubs after him - two of them in Scotland with a lot more finances than we have to do the deal.

"But, credit to Keanu, he wanted to come back here and be closer to his family.

"He wanted to come to a place where he believes he'll be well coached and loved.

"We only found out on Tuesday. We got a late call to say he was available. Credit to our board, we moved very quickly to get the deal done.
