Lorry driver death was 'avoidable'

THE death of an HGV driver whose lorry overturned was avoidable, a fatal accident inquiry has ruled.

James Murray, 54, died at the scene on the M8 close to the Hermiston Gait roundabout in Edinburgh during rush hour in 2022.

The dad-of-two suffered fatal head and chest injuries. The inquiry found that the load being carried in his heavy goods vehicle had not been secured and did not fill the trailer.
