First acting role takes Owen Cooper from Warrington to heights of Hollywood

A MERE six months ago, Owen Cooper was just a lad from Warrington in Cheshire.

But now the 15-year-old Adolescence star has the world at his feet, the youngest male actor to win an Emmy and the centre of attention at the awards.

It's not bad for someone on their first acting gig.

The moment was not lost on the teenager as he accepted the gong for outstanding supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie.

He told a crowd at the Peacock Theater in LA: "Standing up here is just, wow, it's just so surreal.

"When I started these drama classes a couple of years back, I didn't expect to even be in the United States, never mind here.

"I think tonight proves if you listen, and you focus and you step out of your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life. Who cares if you get embarrassed?

"Anything can be possible. I was nothing about three years ago. I'm here now."
