King eyes Final glory on back of home horror

RICHARD KING'S homeland is still healing from the horrors of Hurricane Melissa.

The St Mirren defender says bringing some sporting joy to family and friends in the aftermath is now a powerful motivation.

King reckons Jamaican athletes around the world are going about their business with a stronger guiding force.

In his case, loved ones will tune in to see him play for Saints against holders Celtic in Sunday's Premier Sports Cup Final.

And to give them cause to celebrate would mean an immeasurable amount to him.

The 24-year-old was deeply troubled to follow reports of the devastation caused by the Category 5 storm six weeks ago. There was significant loss of life across the Caribbean.

While King was relieved none of his nearest and dearest was badly affected, his heart went out to those suffering loss.
