AN IRA "fixer" from Scotland admitted his guilt 31 years after a terror campaign that caused fear and mayhem across the UK has finally Michael Gallagher, from Glasgow, was jailed in February 1998 for 20 years for his part in the bombing of London's Heathrow Airport but always protested his innocence.

He was charged with helping the IRA to launch mortars at Heathrow in 1994, which caused huge disruption and millions of pounds worth of damage.

Gallagher, now 82, was released after just two years under the terms of the 1998 Good Friday Agreement, which led to the effective end of The Troubles in Northern Ireland.
