Olsen insists he'll be more than a loan Ranger as star targets trophies and glory during spell in Glasgow

- BY ANDY NEWPORT

NEW Rangers recruit Andreas Skov Olsen is adamant he’s moving to Ibrox for the long haul.

But Gers’ statement signing also admits there will be no short cut to success this season.

The Denmark winger was treated to a hero’s reception on Friday night as he was unveiled at Ibrox following the completion of his six-month switch from Wolfsburg.

The temporary transfer could yet be made permanent for a fee Record Sport understands to be around £8million after an option to buy was priced into the loan package.

But for that to happen, Skov Olsen will have to rediscover the kind of dazzling form hes shown previously with former clubs Nordsjaelland and Club Brugge.

The 26-year-old first appeared on Rangers’ radar shortly after a breakout campaign in which he blasted a remarkable 26 goals in 44 appearances for his boyhood club.

That Nordsjaelland glut soon won him a move to Bologna but while things didn't work out in Italy, Gers continued to keep close tabs on the talented wideman.

Former boss Gio van Bronckhorst even attempted to lure him to Scotland in 2022 but was forced to watch with envy as Skov Olsen instead opted for a move to Belgium, where he went on to rip it up by scoring almost 50 times over three years.

After winning two league titles and a Belgian Super Cup, he was on the move again to Germany.
