Housing association in hot water after tenants face rising bills and long outages

Maureen Chalmers, 77, a Broomhill resident for 10 years, said she had no heating on Wednesday. A relative said: “Everything was fine until the biomass went in.

“I've been to meetings about this with Maureen and it's an absolute farce. She has COPD and a lot of health issues. We've had to bring her an electric heater. She had always used £100 a month and watches what she's using.

“This month she's used her £100 within a fortnight.”

Broomhill residents also hit out at a rise of up to 115 per cent in their bills last year.
