Gers chief: Trusty call dangerous way to go

RANGERS chief Kevin Thelwell claims the decision not to send off Auston Trusty at Hampden has set a “dangerous precedent” in a warning to the SFA.

The Celtic defender was shown a yellow by ref Nick Walsh for catching keeper Jack Butland on the head late in the first half of this month's Premier Sports Cup semifinal.

The VAR team would back up the whistler but after the game, Rangers quickly issued a statement voicing their anger as they held a summit with Hampden chiefs.

Refs’ chief Willie Collum publicly declared last night that he can "support" the call, confirming Record Sport's exclusive on Wednesday night that the supremo backed the officiating team.

The VAR audio from the flashpoint was revealed alongside Collum's explanation but just hours later sporting director Thelwell revealed the club are seeking a second summit with the top brass.
