Set-piece guru Scott has stopper Fernandez dreaming of topping the Gers scoring charts
IT'S been a bonkers season for Rangers and Scottish football up to this point.
So if the Ibrox side somehow won the Premiership with a centre-back from Peterborough as top scorer - maybe it wouldn't be that peculiar, after all.
Even still, if big Emmanuel Fernandez does end up No.1 in the goal charts for Gers, it would be some achievement.
Not just because he's a defender. But also due to the fact he started the campaign in the Ibrox bomb squad under ex-gaffer Russell Martin.
Since new boss Danny Rohl gave him his opportunity, though, the 24-year-old man-mountain hasn't looked back.
And after the arrival of set-piece coach Scott Fry, Fernandez has become even more valuable to Rangers.
So much so, Peterborough's director of football Barry Fry told Record Sport last week that his former player will eventually make both of them a fortune.
Time will tell. But for now, Fernandez is a key part of Rohl's resurgent squad who have clawed their way back into a title race.
He's a major threat from corners and free-kicks - and already has five goals to his name from 16 appearances.
The club's current top marksman is James Tavernier on seven.
If Fernandez keeps that ratio up, he'll hit double-digits come May which might be crucial to Gers' hopes of the league flag.
He isn’t setting himself a target but believes he's capable of scoring more and hailed the influence of set-piece guru Fry.
