One year after declaring a housing emergency, Ministers under fire for having no plan to fix it

THE SNP has been accused of dithering over its response to Scotland's housing emergency after a Minister admitted a fresh plan to tackle the crisis won't be published until the autumn.

Mairi McAllan was made Housing Secretary by John Swinney in a bid to get a grip on the issue, as the number of people declaring themselves homeless soars.

She replaced Paul McLennan, who had faced repeated calls from opposition parties to resign over his handling of the crisis.

The SNP government declared a national housing emergency - an admission that the supply of affordable housing is failing to meet demand - in May last year.
