Tributes pour in after founder member and keyboard player Jim dies of cancer aged 64
MEMBERS of Deacon Blue have been left “brokenhearted” following the death of band member James “Jim" Prime at the age of 64.
Keyboard player Jim, who also lectured at university, passed away after a short battle with cancer.
Deacon Blue frontman Ricky Ross told fans: “We are brokenhearted. Can't reply to messages but we passed on the love so many of you shared.”
The band made the sad announcement on social media. They posted: “Dear friends, We announce with great sadness that our brother James Prime passed away this morning after a short struggle with cancer.
"Thank you so much for the messages of support you shared over the last two weeks, they meant so much to Jim, his family & us. With love, DBx.”
Fellow musicians and fans paid tribute to Jim in the hours after his death.
