WIFE, 47, JAILED FOR 'CAMPAIGN OF VIOLENCE AND CONTROLLING BEHAVIOUR’ OVER YEARS
A HUSBAND who suffered years of abuse at the hands of his wife told police: “I will end up dead.”
Cara Smith punched, kicked and scratched her husband, and called him abusive names on many occasions for years, Mold Crown Court heard.
The abuse, which began in 2018, left the victim with bruises and marks, and had a devastating impact on his life.
Smith stubbed a cigarette out on her husband's chest and would keep him awake at night, digging her arms and legs into his back even after he had extensive surgery on his spine, making him suffer sleep deprivation.
He was also isolated from his family, she damaged the house and belongings, and took his phone from him, the court heard.
Smith, 47, of Dog Lane, Kelsall, Chester, admitted engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour between January 2018 and March 2025, and two charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in August last year and February this year.
‘The offences were reported to have happened in Flintshire.
