Man inflicted 'horrific' injuries on stranger in 'savage' pub attack

A MAN inflicted “horrific” injuries on a complete stranger after launching a “savage” attack on him in a pub.

- By DAVID POWELL Daily Post Reporter

Luke Williams' attack on the man “came from nowhere” and his own barrister called it “shocking”.

Williams, a former Airbus worker and regional rugby player, threw a bar stool and a bubble gum machine at Alec Regan in the 20-minute incident at The New Glynne Arms, Chester Road, Broughton, in the early hours of August 6 this year.

The 30-year-old admitted causing grievous bodily harm. A judge at Caernarfon Crown Court yesterday branded Williams a dangerous offender.

He jailed him for six years and he will serve two thirds before he will be eligible to apply for parole.

But the judge also placed him on extended licence for three years after the six-year term ends.

The court heard Williams had lived at the pub as it was a “stone's throw” from Airbus, where he worked. But on the night in question he had taken cocaine and ketamine and drunk alcohol.

He repeatedly punched and kicked Mr Regan, including between his legs. He used his head in the attack and threw a bar stool and bubblegum machine at Mr Regan.
