Erosion 'worse' after flood defence work

GROYNE PUT IN TO PROTECT A POPULAR BEACH NOW NEEDS TO BE LOWERED
FLOOD defences at one of North Wales' most popular beaches have potentially made erosion issues worse - with changes now planned.
Work has been done in recent decades to protect the coastline at Dinas Dinlle near Caernarfon.
This included a stone groyne that was built in 1994.
But it was later highlighted this work may have actually contributed to further erosion north of the groyne as it has prevented shingle from moving naturally to this part of the beach, leaving it more exposed to the sea.
