Dickov backing Wrexham as Vardy ponders future

WREXHAM have been offered fresh hope over their chances of signing Jamie Vardy this summer.

The Welsh side, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, have been strongly linked with a move for the Leicester City striker following their promotion to the Championship.

The 38-year-old confirmed in April that he will leave the Foxes at the end of the season following their relegation from the Premier League but will continue playing.

Vardy has spent 13 years at Leicester since joining them from Fleetwood Town in 2012, scoring 199 goals in 499 appearances, helping them win the Premier League title in 2015/16 and the FA Cup in 2021.

He has been linked with a number of clubs since his departure was announced, including Wrexham and boyhood team Sheffield Wednesday.

The chances of either side securing his signature were played down after reports emerged suggesting he had no interest in playing in the second tier.

However, the prospect of Vardy arriving in North Wales has reared its head again after Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson shared an insight into his planned approach when the summer transfer window opens in June.
