December 03, 2025

THE rain finally relented after a 27 hour weather warning that brought chaos to parts of North Wales.

A Met Office warning for rain kicked in at midnight on Sunday and lasted through until 3am yesterday morning.

The Met Office warned of rain on Monday and the weather systems delivered - with Capel Curig the wettest place in the UK after 73mm of rain fell in less than 24 hours.

The promised rain was accompanied by strong winds in coastal and other exposed areas. In terms of impact it was a slow burner as the constant downpours gradually piled pressure on waterways and already boggy land.

Over time roads transformed into rivers and numerous flood alerts and then warnings kicked in from Natural Resources Wales.

Gwynedd was the worst hit with numerous road closures.
