Dangerous driver having 'psychotic episode' left pregnant woman in fear

He overtook the woman’s car, braked abruptly and the woman crashed into his vehicle.

She was afraid her unborn baby boy could have been injured. Her daughter, who was a passenger, screamed hysterically.

She was six months pregnant at the time of the incident on Wrexham industrial estate. Mariusz Rerek, 47, of Y Wern, Wrexham, had denied a charge of dangerous driving but was convicted after a trial at Wrexham Magistrates Court last month.

Yesterday, a judge at Mold Crown Court gave him an 18-month jail term suspended for two years. He must do 175 hours of unpaid work.

Prosecutor Laura Knightly said a Hannah Gavan had been driving with her daughter on Wrexham industrial estate on August 31 last year. She went along Abenbury Way and then Ash Road South.
